Today on Facebook a reader posted a great idea- As a group, let’s put pressure on some of the big supermarket chains to get rid of GMOs.
They will listen to you.
They don’t want to lose you as a customer.
Together we can get rid of genetically modified food.
Let’s be part of this Revolution :)
I put together a letter that you can download as a PDF and print and mail to your local Costco store, or download the Word Version and add to it as you’d like, print it, and mail it to your local Costco. In addition, here is the information for the headquarters, I think we should hit both our local store and the headquarters.
| Costco’s corporate mailing address is: PO Box 34331 Seattle, WA 98124 |

Dear Costco:
I am a customer of yours who appreciates how you go out of your way to have better quality food than most supermarkets.
I am asking today that you consider removing all genetically modified foods from your stores, or at the least, label what is already GMO free.
You already are labeling your organic produce so your customers can make healthier choices just by glancing at a sign in your store.
As a busy home cook who is concerned about the impact of GMOs on our health, and the health of our planet, I avoid purchasing products made with genetically modified ingredients, and would shop at Costco more often if you didn’t carry foods with genetically modified ingredients, or had the GMO free options clearly marked.
If we can join together and ask for changes within the American food system, I know that your suppliers will step up to make a healthier planet and we all will benefit.
I think it’s one of the most important battles for consumers to fight: the right to know what’s in their food, and how it was grown.

This is a wonderful idea. I’m in.
I’m in!
I think this is a wonderful idea. We do not have a Costco where we live but what about doing the same for Walmart, Sam’s, target, Kroger and any other store that sells us food. We cannot count on the government to keep us informed and safe. I want to know what I am eating. As a person with severe food allergies I NEED to know. It is our right to know what we are spending our hard earned cash on. I frankly do not want to shop a store that tries to hide the fact they are selling GMO’s.
Just did it! Printed out and envelopes addressed! Thank you…what a great idea!
Count me in too. Fabulous idea – thank you!
Done! Thanks!
count me in too!!
You guys rock! Keep it coming, and let us know if you get a response. Someone on Facebook was going to talk to the manager of the store, that’s not a bad idea either!
We all need to be more aware of what we put into our bodies. I truly believe our food is unhealthy. What are we eating in restaurants?
Thanks so much for stepping up to the plate(no pun intended) and getting this going! My letters are in the mail :)
Awesome idea. Just printed the letters. Thank you for initiating!!
Great idea!
