Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Like the sauce we had on our trout the other day, a hollandaise sauce makes breakfast-for-dinner much more special. Here: Soaked wheat bread toast, poached eggs, and the blender hollandaise sauce from Joy of Cooking. So easy, it takes longer to melt the butter than it does to make.

Easy blender Hollandaise Sauce

Two fresh egg yolks
juice of one lemon
a dash of salt and pepper
1/2 cup  butter – melted.
Put the egg yolk in the blender, turn it on medium, and slowly pour in the melted butter- taking maybe a minute to pour in the half cup.  Then  add the salt, pepper, and lemon juice. It will thicken as it cools.
I love having leftovers (we usually don’t) -I use it as a spread in sandwiches the next day.

  1. does it taste like traditional hollandaise sauce?
i used to be addicted to that stuff you make from the packet….but its so full of junk! i would love to rekindle my addiction with something healthy! Thanks so much for all you do!

  2. Hi Cara,

This looks delicious!!! I was curious about the soaked wheat bread, but the hyperlink did not work — do you have a recipe for it, or is it store-bought?

My husband and I have been — for the most part — consuming only sprouted grain breads for the past 2 years or so as I’ve learned more in my health and wellness journey as I’ve improved our diets. We’ll go on the GAPS Intro in October, so am hoping to experiment with recipes now as I prepare. Have a great day!

    • Hi Beth, I don’t know what’s up with the link- the bread was homemade wheat, before we did grain free. I think if you search my site you’ll find it :)
