Hi Rachel, I eat a lot more carbs when I'm nursing an infant, and I eat a lot of coconut oil. For carbs I eat a lot of fruit, and I find the coconut oil easy to slip into smoothies and stuff :) I use yogurt made from good quality milk as well, and lots of butter. Ha, just lots of food when nursing ;)

Hi Cara -

I am new to your site and loving it! Do you have any posts about your nursing/ breastfeeding diet? I have a 7 week old and have tried to go grain free, but his BMs seem to become irregular and difficult when I completely cut out grains. I'm just curious as to your specific nursing diet in ensuring that you're getting enough fiber and fats. thanks so much!

I am shocked I'm not shocked! I thought I'd see something here that was politically incorrect but found everything I've been doing since my oldest was born. I think I'm hopeless and will never be pc 'cause I thought it was a great and well written post! :)

BTW...I'd love to see info over GAPS and conception/pregnancy here. We're starting the GAPS diet and still want to add to our family of 5...but I don't want to wait 2 years to get off this diet to become pregnant. My youngest is already 3! Do you know if it's possible to seek a pregnancy while on the GAPS diet? I haven't seen anything mentioned about it.

...side note...
I'm also looking at your menu plans because I've been vegan or vegetarian my entire life. Do they 'teach' like Wardeh at Gnowfglins?

Thanks!

I just stumbled across this article, and I wanted to thank you for upholding the wonderful relationship tied to breastfeeding and how attachment parenting can make it more successful. What I really appreciate, though, is your acknowledgment that some women aren't able to breastfeed- it was *heartbreaking* to find that I was unable to produce much milk, and it was even worse to find that none of my natural parenting resources discussed this side of the problem- when your body just doesn't work correctly, and the only advice you can find is from companies pushing formula or doctors who consider it a totally 'normal' 'choice'. My babies are weaned from formula, but it is still a tender issue for me, and I wish I had known about homemade alternatives to formula.
