Deal on Coconut Oil
Tropical Traditions is having a Black Friday sale- with a coupon code (it's found in the sidebar of their site for $10 off)
edited to add: *** They're having the same deal for Cyber Monday***
I'm ordering their expeller pressed non-certified coconut oil, a gallon, which is already on sale for $39 right now.
If you are a first time customer and use my referral code, #5682145, a free book about coconut oil will be included with your order (they credit my account with coconut oil when you use that as well, just so you know, I like this deal ~grin~).
To use the code, in the checkout screen when it asks where you heard of Tropical Traditions, choose 'referred by a friend' and then put in the #5682145. If you don't see the place to put in the #, don't worry, you can just email Tropical Traditions through their customer service page after you place your order and they'll be sure to hook you up with the free book.
Their coupon code is only good for today, so if you were wanting to make the switch to coconut oil, now is a great time to do it.

Thanks! I bought the 5 gallon- what a great deal!
Awesome! I love having lots on hand, because then I add it to everything. And it's so good for you!
thank goodness for cyber monday becaue i was bummed i missed your post about black friday!
Dear Author www.healthhomehappy.com !
In it something is. Now all became clear, many thanks for the help in this question.
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?
And you et an account on Twitter?
I saw your post on Sorta Crunchy today. I've heard that coconut oil is healthy, but I was very nervous to use it because of the high amount of saturated fat. My husband and I just lost a lot of weight (hooray for us!), so it makes me really hesistant to try this. I know there are some claims that it actually helps you lose weight, but I just have to ask: you really didn't notice an increase in your weight when you started using it? Or your family's weight?
Hi Jennie,
I lost quite a bit of weight since starting to use coconut oil, without counting calories or anything. I was in the middle of losing my pregnancy weight when we started, so I was about 165 then, and now I'm 136.5 When we got married in '03 I was 140, and was 155 in high school. (I'm 5'8") Don't know if this helps at all, this was the best way I could think of to explain! My husband's weight goes up and down between 185 and 195 (he's 6'3") depending on how much junk food he consumes ;)
Good Calories Bad Calories is a book that goes into this more too if you want to hear it from someone more qualified than I am (I'm just a mom). Congratulations to you your husband for your weight loss!
Cara-
Thanks. That is helpful! I've found some great information on your blog-Thank you! If you don't mind, I have one more question. What guidance can you give (books, any blog posts, etc) on healthy eating. My personal trainer is pushing protien, protien, protien, but I don't see how drinking things like commercially produced protien drinks or consuming too many animal by-products are healthy in the long run, but I'm trying to find some direction. Any help?
Actually, I just noticed the long list of books on the left side of your blog (duh!). Those look like a great place to start.
Thanks!
I love The Maker's Diet, and then the Good Calories Bad Calories that I talked about before. Real Food is good too. - those are all books, and they're up on my sidebar. Under the Learn More tab I have recommended reading too.
Blog posts, did you see the SAD to Real Food? It's up in the about section, not sure if the link will break up if I post it here

Protein is good, as part of real whole foods, but I'm wary of protein that's outside of it's natural state. Organic beef is good, powdered whey or soy protein just isn't how protein is made to be consumed, so I understand your hesitation. Personally I eat about 50-60% calories from fat, 15-20% from protein, then the rest from carb and I feel really healthy eating like this, plenty of energy, stable weight, etc.
You've got great questions! I think you'll like the whole Real Foods way of looking at food. It tastes good too! :)
I just switched the 'Learn More' to 'Recommendations' - but that's where my recommended reading is! :)
